Toronto Atomic FC jumped to the top of the CSL First Division with a 2-0 defeat of Scarborough SC!
Toronto Atomic took the lead against Scarborough at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke when forward Dario Brezak drove the ball from 10 yards over the right shoulder of Scarborough goalkeeper Imad Hakura at the 40th-minute mark. It was 1-0 at the interval.
Atomic increased the lead to 2-0 at 64 minutes when forward Ali Shamsali scored from the penalty spot after referee Zoltan Jakab pointed to the spot following an infringement in the box.
The goal was followed by another penalty when Scarborough midfielder Alon Badat was tripped inside the 18-yard line, but Scarborough’s Aleksander Stojiljkovic drove the ball over the bar.
Toronto Atomic moved to the top of the First Division standings as a result of the win which improved the team’s record to 3-1-2 WLT for 11 points, while Scarborough are in the fifth position with a 2-2-0 record for six points.
